ABOUT US

The family history group has been meeting regularly for about twenty years. In the early days we met once a month in the afternoon of the first Friday when we discussed our various research projects. We still keep up this tradition but we now meet every Friday and are able to use the excellent internet facilities and IT applications now available in the computer room.

Things have changed since the time one had to visit various record offices or parish churches around the country to further ones research, now most of it can be done online.

We have a number of volunteers who are skilled in genealogy and are happy to provide help and assistance to new researchers and to those with little or no computer experience.

For those who require a helping hand it is recommended that they join us  on a Friday morning between 10.00 and 12.30.

AgeUK have kindly provided us with access to a comprehensive website where most records sets can be found.

There is no charge associated with being a member of our group, the only cost you may come across is if you want to purchase a birth, marriage or death certificate to confirm an ancestor, but then the choice is yours. However, we welcome a £1.00 donation to help cover the cost of  the website.
